The Haizhu district government recently unveiled a plan to build a world-class landmark business circle in the Canton Tower-Pazhou area, as part of the efforts contributing to Guangzhou's development into an international consumption center.

The district government has signed agreements with 11 companies to jointly build the business circle, with a focus on new consumption patterns such as landmark and exhibition related consumption and digital consumption.

A key project in the business circle is the Canton Tower South Square which is positioned to be the most high-end commercial complex in Haizhu, attracting both domestic and overseas upscale brands to open their first stores, flagship stores and concept stores here and introducing tourism-themed theaters.

Once completed, the project will add business area of about 57,000 square meters to the Canton Tower. It is expected to start operation in the first quarter of 2024.

The Pazhou Hong Kong-Macao Passenger Port

According to the plan, the Pazhou Hong Kong-Macao Passenger Port is scheduled to launch direct shipping routes to the Hong Kong International Airport in the first quarter next year, and will set up duty-free shops for departing tourists, with an aim to become an important water transport hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The district government will also give full play to the fourth phase of the Canton Fair Complex, which is the largest modern exhibition complex in the world with a total area of 620,000 square meters, to foster live streaming, cross-border e-commerce and other burgeoning industries in order to promote the integration of online and offline businesses in the business circle. The district has set targets to hold more than 300 exhibitions every year and expand its exhibition area to more than 12.5 million square meters by 2025.
